Abstract

The article explores interpretations of the metacode in mythology and poetry, with particular attention to the ‘fire’ metacode. Integrating classical and contemporary research shaped by new scholarly paradigms, the study examines the concept of cultural code and its earliest cognitive foundations, focusing on the artistic and aesthetic functions of ‘fire’ as internalized through mythic thinking. Special emphasis is placed on Turkic myths and their reinterpretation in modern Kazakh classical literature, alongside comparative analysis with examples from world literature. Treating ‘fire’ as a metacode, the article analyzes poetic texts to reveal its role and functions in world mythology and classical literary traditions. The study also investigates how metacode-based concepts operate as figurative and expressive devices in literary works. Drawing on poetic examples from the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, it compares literary representations of ‘fire’ with mythological cognition and evaluates their poetic significance. Supported by relevant theoretical perspectives, the research identifies the cognitive, aesthetic, and imagistic functions of the ‘fire’ metacode, leading to well-founded scholarly conclusions.
