On the theory of parts of the sentence

Abstract

In Kazakh linguistics the study of sentence parts corresponding to the properties of
the given language originates from the syntax suggested by A. Baitursynov. Further in the twentieth
century, there were identified types of sentence parts and basic principles of their classification. At the
same time, there have not been resolved some theoretical and practical issues of studying sentence
parts yet. So, in relation to the principal parts of sentence, priority is given to either subject or predicate.
Also, there is no consensus regarding grammatical subject, predicate and logical subject and predicate.
There is inconsistency in the classification of minor parts of sentences, e.g. the definition and the
complement are classified into semantic types, while the circumstance is classified into functional types.
The classification of adverbials is incomplete. There is also a twofold position in defining extended
sentence parts. The article offers solutions to these issues in the syntax of Kazakh language.
