To learn any new language, it is important to know the literary heritage, vocabulary, culture, and the general concepts of that nation. Because words are not only a means of communication that can be used through translation, but you also need to remember that each country also has its own informational features associated with its national identity. Considering this problem, the article paid attention to the concepts of intercultural communication and intercultural competence, which must be taken into account when teaching the Kazakh language to the English-speaking audience. The terms of kinship and their use in the Kazakh and English languages were compared from the semantic, cognitive, and functional side, their similarities and differences were determined. The main attention was paid to the methodology of teaching Kazakh terms of kinship to a foreign audience. Based on the opinions of scientists, lexical units were systematized by language levels. Focusing on the Kazakh worldview and culture, effective ways of teaching them at every level of language learning were proposed. The activities and tools that can be used at each language level have been selected, analyzed, and classified according to the learning objectives. As a prerequisite for the correct understanding of these words, a comparative dictionary of kinship terms in Kazakh and English was created.
