Functions of the initial and final positions of texts in the genres of Kazakh oral folklore in the
ling folkloristic aspect are described and analyzed in the given article. The beginning and completion of specific
syntactic formulas are regarded as a typical phenomenon in folklore genres. This phenomenon is perceived
trivially in folklore. Examination from the position of linguistic folklore reveals some important features of
the folklore text, defines functions of the initial and final position of the texts of the folklore genre: signs of the
beginning of the text, ways of transition to the narrative, connection of the theme and the main idea of the work,
establishing relation between the plot and the subjective modality of the text, edification and impact decoding
of the text.
At the same time, the positions in question have an important pragmatic significance, since they
immerse the reader in the current event, increase interest, influence the reader, simulate the communicative
situation, signal the events, separate the parts of the text, influence the aesthetic perception of the folklore text,
form an attractive motive in the text and stimulate manifestation of a special attention to the text. All these
phenomena are transmitted through the use of certain linguistic units. It should be noted that such methods in
different genres manifest themselves in different ways.
The article is written in the framework of the scientific project “The Study of Kazakh Folklore from the
Linguistic-Genre Point of View”.
