This article examines the nature, functions, and role of cultural symbols and linguistic signs in the national consciousness within an interdisciplinary linguocultural perspective, based on Kazakh kuy legends. Combining a rich folkloric heritage with narrative material, the study focuses on the semiotic interrelations between kuy legends and musical texts. Cultural symbols and linguistic signs in Kuy legends are mutually related concepts closely connected to the nation’s worldview, akin to twin strands within the inner fibre of tone. A linguocultural analysis makes it possible to reveal the semiotic structure of the legends, their cognitive depth, and their social functions. Not only within kuy legends but across folkloric texts in general, symbols and linguistic units complement one another to form complex semantic structures. The novelty of this work lies in its status as one of the first scholarly articles to provide an in-depth analysis of cultural symbols and linguistic signs in kuy legends within the interdisciplinary field of linguocultural studies. The research offers important data and reflections on the mutual influence of language and culture in the formation of folkloric text. By integrating linguistic analyses with cultural interpretation, it delineates the mechanisms through which language and culture intersect in the context of kuy legends. The findings underscore the significance of a linguocultural methodology for research on folklore and kuy legends and contribute to a systematic understanding of the multidimensional, multilayered, and complex relationships among language, culture, and folklore.
