Audio description is a crucial field focused on providing access to information and communication for individuals with visual impairments. The following article explores the concept of audio description and training methods for translators in this specialized area. The relevance of this research is driven by the methodological and practical significance of audio description as a technique in foreign language education. The aim of the study is to demonstrate that audio description as a form of audiovisual translation can serve as an effective method for teaching foreign languages and fostering students’ creative abilities. The article outlines the characteristics of audiovisual translation, details the process of employing audio description techniques to enhance foreign language learning and argues for its potential in education. The innovative aspect of this research lies in defining audio description as a linguodidactic approach to creating artistic verbal description, narration or commentary for films. Consequently, applying audio description allows students to showcase their language skills reflecting their level of language proficiency and cultural knowledge. As a pedagogical tool audio description significantly contributes to developing the professional communicative competence of future specialists.
