Abstract

Z. Akhmetov’s research on Abai’s heritage and creativity is one of the most fundamental
scientific works in national literary criticism. The scientist has made a significant contribution to the Abai
industry after M.Auezov. The scientist was only twenty-three year old when he passed his PhD defense on
«Lermontov and Abai». Star-life of Z. Akhmetov, the great public figure, owner of high intelligence, has
begun to do all the same for the spiritual prosperity of the country, development of national culture and
literature.
The scientist A.Egeubayev divides the research works of Z.Ahmetov into the field of Abai in 4
channels. First of all Abai’s translations from Russian literature classics, as well as Abay’s translation
school’s own peculiarities, the study of Kazakh poetry in this direction. The second is, of course, the poetic
world of Abai. Third, Abai works in textology. Fourth, Abai’s criticisms of criticism.
The textual view of Abai’s works was one of the most urgent issues requiring great courage. Z.
Akhmetov prepared and published four editions of Abai’s «Complete Collection» (1954, 1957, 1970, 1995)
as one of the authors and commentators. From 1954 to 1957, he worked as a partner with great researcher
M.Auezov. In addition, the academician was a writer and designer of Abai’s works in other languages. For
example, in 1970, he became a textile designer in Belarus, Armenian and Moldavian languages.
