Abstract

The article discusses the genesis, formation and study of the category of simulacra in
postmodern literature.
The development of the concept of “Simulacrum” began in the ancient period and entered scientific
circulation in the era of postmodernism with the justification of the philosopher J. Bataille. The first
arguments concerning this term are analyzed by Greek thinkers based on the treatises of Plato, Epicurus.
In the philosophy of the ancient period, the simulacrum is described as a copy, a representation of a thing.
In the research works of French scientists J. Bataille, J. Deleuze, J. Baudrillard, the simulacrum is
analyzed from a new angle and given in the broad context of describing the modern philosophical, sociopolitical situation. According to the theory of “Simulations and simulacra” proposed by J. Baudrillard
analyzes the reflection and activity of simulacra in society, art, and literature.
The ideas of Russian scientists M. Epstein, N. Mankovskaya and O. Bychkova regarding the theory
of simulacra are studied. The article by the Russian literary critic M. Epstein examines the relationship
between the ideology of the Soviet period and the theory of simulacra. In the research works of the
philosopher, author of works on postmodernism N. Mankovskaya, opinions are expressed about the stages
of development of simulation relations. The conclusions of the scientist O. Bychkova about the functions
of the simulacrum in a literary text are analyzed. The use of the simulacrum in Kazakh prose is considered
on the basis of the research work of the PhD G. Saulembek.
