The article talks about the integrity of the author and the narrator in the story «Statue and life» by T. Abdikuly, one of the classic writers of modern Kazakh prose. In modern literary studies, there is a tendency to consider the author and the narrator separately from each other. And it is obvious that its foundation lies in the conclusions of post-structuralist scientists. However, no matter how much we separate the artist from his work, it is clear that in the creative process, the author unconsciously forms his identity and image in the mind of the reader. The theory of the author, which arose at the beginning of the 20th century, is of great importance in the science of literary studies. There is a relevance of conducting a study of the integrity of the author and narrator in modern Kazakh prose. That is why, with this problem as the main goal, we studied the famous and classic works of Kazakh prose after the years of independence from a narratological prism, and aimed to study the paradigm framework of the author's theory. In our research work we relied on the scientific conclusions of R. Barthes, M. Foucault, W. Schmid, P. Dawson, critical scientists regarding the author’s theory and the scientific conclusion of the Russian scientist T. U. Esembekov, related to the author’s narrative. During the study of the artistic text, we determined the writer's style by performing a semiotic analysis of the work and paid special attention to the author's message in personalizing the character. It is clear that the author expresses his presence, no matter how much the author keeps himself away from the work and imposes great responsibility on the narrator.
