The article examines the ways of developing the reflection of future foreign language
teachers a in a pedagogical context. The article is devoted to the problem of developing skills of the reflexive
thinking of English teachers. The main problem of methods of teaching English language is revealed:
development of communicative, pedagogical reflection. A full description of the methods of re-education,
of the development of communicative reflection, a tendency to overestimate students’ supposed opinion
about their communicative qualities and underestimate the expected opinion of the students about their
didactic skills and intellectual-volitional qualities. Having analyzed the essence and structure of the concept
of reflection, reflex thinking, reflex culture, as well as many works of previous scientists, the authors explain
the importance and necessity of developing reflective skills of future teachers. An analysis was carried out
to determine the functions of reflex thinking in teaching foreign languages, classifying reflex processes at
different levels of development among pupils in secondary schools.
