Proceeding from the concepts of «life tree» and «world tree», linking the three worlds, the history
of the knowledge of this object, which has established itself in the human mind with its sacredness, dates back to
very ancient times. The world tree occupies a special place in the cultural memory of mankind as an archetypal
symbol. It has been studying in ancient texts and works on the structure of myths, as much as possible.
In the ancient Kazakh worldview, this tree appears as «a baiterek» (giant tree), oak and «mykan» (giant
poplar). Most sacred places in the Kazakh steppe are associated with trees and springs. These two are located
very close to each other and are closely related. In addition, single-growing trees are especially respected and
are tied with white scarf to have the wishes fulfilled.
According to the ancient Turkic worldview, the vertical model of space consists of three parts, and baiterek or
mykan (a single giant tree or giant poplar), connecting these three worlds, is the Kazakh invariant of the world
tree.
A single tree in the steppe, root and leaf, trunk and branches in the work of art is an example of a mythical
archetype, echoed in the poetic mind and creating a special artistic model.
The object of analysis in the article is the poetology of the «world tree», passed from the mythological concept
into artistic thinking, and considered on the basis of world myths, Kazakh fairy tales and fiction.
