The article discusses the topic of ecology in literary works. The main object of fiction, as you know, is human life and its relationship with nature. Therefore, in works of art, the image of nature often occupies a place along with a person to one degree or another. This is evidenced by the theme of ecology, which is initially found in samples of oral folk literature and continues to be considered up to modern literature. The authors prove that the nomadic civilization aspired to global integrity in order to preserve the balance of life. Toponymic names reflected in national values are comprehensively analyzed, and ecological consciousness is shown as the beginning of Turkic culture and civilization, as well as the formation of a culture of respect for the native land. Fundamental research on environmental issues dates back to the sixties of the last century, when the importance and value of environmental movements were considered in the context of science. Landfill trials, which had a detrimental effect on the fate of people and nature, were also reflected in fiction. The author identifies the issues of historical truth and artistic solutions on the topic of ecology in modern Kazakh literature. The issues raised in the mass media of Kazakhstan related to the Semipalatinsk test site, a number of articles published in regional newspapers and magazines are scrupulously analyzed. The author places special emphasis on the reflection in the works of such settlements affected by the environmental disaster as Abraly, Karaul and neighboring districts of the region.
