Features of the translation of W. Shakespeare’s 130th sonnet into Kazakh language

Abstract

The English writer and actor William Shakespeare, along with his plays, is also known for his sonnets. He wrote 154 breathtaking and fascinating sonnets, in which touched on various topics and skillfully used various images and literary devices. His sonnets 18 and 130 are especially popular. In this regard, in the presented article sonnet 130 is examined and its translated versions into Russian and Kazakh are analyzed. The purpose of this research is to identify the features of
the Kazakh translation of W. Shakespeare’s sonnet 130. The article aims to reveal differences and similarities between the versions of sonnet, as well as the methods used by each translator. The idea of this scientific work is to compare and find differences in Samuil Marshak’s and Khamit Yergaliyev’s versions. The scientific significance of this article lies in the insufficient study of the sonnets translated by Kh. Yergaliyev. The practical significance of the study is determined by the usefulness of the
presented data for the researchers. Scientific conclusions about W. Shakespeare’s sonnets, literary translation and translation of sonnets were taken into account. Comparative, descriptive and analytical methods were widely used, and assisted to draw a conclusion about the differences between variants of sonnet.
