Abstract

It is indisputable that the works of oral folk art have their own history, their own specific
path of development, various forms and types in different periods. Being a part of literature, folklore
studies of Kazakh folk songs are distinguished by its originality and uniqueness. In XX century there were attempts to scrutinize and investigate the stages of development of Kazakh folklore history. In this regard,
a huge role in the study of the chronology of Kazakh folk songs undoubtedly belongs to the scientistfolklorist Bekmurat Uakatov.
This article considers the scientific views of the scientist in the process of collecting folk songs and
their research. There is an analysis of his works devoted to the genre features of folk songs, the skill of their
creation, and the problems of systematization.
