. В статье на основе языковой практики разных стран анализируется ряд актуальных проблем социолингвистики. Особо затрагивается проблема государственного (официального) языка, рассматриваемая как социолингвистическая категория. Этот вопрос исследуется, во–первых, с точки зрения
предъявляемых требований и обязанностей, во-вторых, с точки зрения ответственности по отношению
к языку. В качестве примера в статье приводятся основные принципы и положения языковой политики стран Прибалтики, Грузии, Армении, Азербайджана, Узбекистана, Таджикистана, России и других
стран. Также анализируются вопросы языковой структуры, проблемы, связанные с языковой ситуацией.
Эти проблемы рассматриваются применительно к вопросам обучения в США стандартному литературному языку неанглоязычных лиц и иммигрантов. Наряду с этим отмечается, что в Германии и Франции
посредством проведения социолингвистических исследований решаются острые проблемы, связанные с
языковой адаптацией рабочих-иммигрантов.
Также в статье затрагивается вопрос о том, что социолингвистические исследования, проводимые
в советское время, были ориентированы на «русификацию» других народов. Авторами статьи дается
обзор исследований современной российской социолингвистики, представляющей собой продолжение советской социолингвистики. Они приходят к выводу, что при исследовании и решении проблем,
связанных с языковой ситуацией в стране, и их объективной оценке в качестве примера могут служить
основные положения, изложенные в трудах как советских, так и современных ученых-социолингвистов
