Abstract

For the first time, this study reveals the cognitive nature of the concepts “life” and “death” in Nurlan Kosymbayev’s poetry, as well as the content of linguistic units and individual frames. Based on the poet’s works, philosophical reflections on life and death within the national worldview are systematized and explored. The analysis of the “life” and “death” concepts provides new opportunities for research in linguistics, particularly in cognitive linguistics, ethnolinguistics, and linguocultural studies. The main goal of the research is to analyze the concepts “life” and “death” in N. Kosymbayev’s poetry and to identify the features of their usage and semantic scope within poetic texts. Conceptual analysis allows the identification of semantic, cognitive, and cultural aspects of the notions of “life” and “death,” serving as an important source of information for the study of linguistic consciousness and cultural codes. Findings of the study and conceptual analyses can be applied in specialized courses and seminars on cognitive linguistics and ethnolinguistics, as they serve as practical materials for developing conceptual thinking and enhancing the ability to analyze linguistic and cultural phenomena. Furthermore, this research demonstrates the interconnection between literary studies and linguistics and allows a deeper understanding of conceptual and lexical structures in poetic texts.
