Abstract

This article scrutinizes the genre’s nature of John Ronald Tolkien’s novel «The Lord of the
Rings». This fantasy creation includes a huge range of folklore and literary genres (folk and literary tales, heroic
epics, myths, legends). In other words, all genres of conscious and unconscious artistic fiction are meant. Research
shows that the genre’s nature of this work is phenomenal. Most likely - it’s new, as a rethinking and mixing of the
old, already firmly taken its place in the literature.
