This article deals with the creation of the artistic personality of
historical figures, artists, who became the basis of historical novels published after Kazakhstan
gained independence. At what level are the historical and biographical novels written in the lives of people of art written, what achievements have been achieved on the topic and the form of
the question are affected. At the same time, the novels, which became the basis of historical
personalities, highlight common remaining shortcomings, analyze theoretical problems. Roman
R. Toktarov «The Mystery of Abai» examines the specific features, advantages and disadvantages
of artists. It says here that the novelty of R. Toktarov differs from the novel of Auezov, reflecting
the unprecedented aspects of Abai, and his features of the novel are analyzed in detail.
