The article describes in detail the formation of Zhambyl Zhabayev’s poetic art, who is
an acknowledged master of word in the history of Kazakh literature. Zhambyl is a great poet who skillfully
and truthfully portrayed his era. His poetry consists of a series of poems dedicated to the great trials and
tribulations of the Kazakh people in that historical period.
The article for the first time describes the history of the formation of poetic art in the oral tradition
of the Kazakh people, its main features and syncretic nature in comparison with the peoples of Central
Asia. The role of poetry in the word-man’s work was analyzed on the basis of memories of Zhambyl’s life.
The article also provides information about teachers and the poetic environment of the talented poet. The
formation of a poetic personality is considered on the basis of historical sources. With the aim of revealing
the versatility of the poet’s work, excerpts from his poems are given in the article as well as an analysis of
his poetic texts. The poet was able to convey the historical truth through deep thoughts based on humanistic
ideas and inherent philosophical background. These verses reveal Zhambyl’s entire poetic power
