Abstract

A scientist-educator, the foremost statesman of his age. A. Baitursynuly spent a significant
part of his life in the city of Orenburg. He studied at a teacher’s school (1891-1895), was in administrative
exile by a court decision of the czarist regime (1910-1912), took an active part in the publication of
the newspaper «Kazakh» (1913-1918), becoming his first editor. He is considered one of the founding
fathers of the national autonomy of Alash and the Soviet Kirghiz (Kazakh) autonomy (1919-1925).This
article is aimed at the study and analysis of new archival documents related to the Orenburg period in the
biography of A. Baitursynuly.The archival documents received by us have not been previously studied:A.
Baitursynov’s dossier was formed by the gendarmerie of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Czarist Russia,
an article on the Kazakh folklore of the enlightener - «Kyrgyz omens and proverbs» published in the
«Turgai Gazeta 1895.
