The study focuses on the use of the narrative lexeme in the system of humanitarian
knowledge. The focus is on the problems associated with the semantic-functional features and capabilities of
the «narrative», as well as those concepts in which there are educated words «narrative» and combinations.
The basis of a variety of empirical material is the scientific works of philosophers, psychologists, cognitive
scientists, philologists, linguists, literary scholars who somehow use the concept of «narrative». When
isolating and describing characteristic linguistic phenomena, a pragmatic approach was used. Within the
framework of this approach, certain points are highlighted that allow us to determine the philosophical
and philological understanding of the concepts presented. It is through the prism of these understandings
that the semantic filling of «narrative» is perceived and interpreted, which is important and significant for
interdisciplinary research
