The article considers the paths/roads as components of a literary text and components of
the spatial model of the world of the Russian and Kazakh people. Based on the systematic, historical and
comparative art history research methods, analyzed the content of works of fiction, poetry, and painting,
discovered the variety of its interpretations depending on historical realities, worldview features, style of
artists and writers. The study showed that the motive of the path / road in the fiction of writers and poets of
Kazakhstan and Russia underwent a transformation from philosophical reflection on eternal questions of
life to the mythological representation of the path in the space of unreal being. In the paintings of Russian
artists, the image of the path / road was interpreted as a way of seeing life, a dream of happiness, the
choice of a life path in landscape, subject-thematic, genre paintings. In the works of Kazakh painters, the
motive of the path / road is built into the harmony of space and time of the nomadic path of life in realistic,
symbolic, philosophical and symbolic directions. The theme of the path connects different cultures of the
world into a single community.
