The article describes the nature of the application of the method of retrospection in the text
and ways of its manifestation. A review of research in literary studies, linguistics, related to the method of
retrospection. The authors have considered the place, compositional and structural character of this artistic
approach in the context. The article contains a review of the works of akyns. The authors have paid attention to
the ways of transmitting retrospection in Kazakh poetry. The article analyzes the features of the transmission of
the phenomenon of retrospection in the work of each writer. There is explained the concept of retrospection after
analyzing the opinion of researchers. The authors have studied the place of the phenomenon of retrospection
in science and literary. From the point of view of literary studies, there is carried out an analysis on different
examples. There is clarified the role of the phenomenon of retrospection in Kazakh literature, including Kazakh
poetry. It is shown that the phenomenon of retrospection, along with the artistic one, which the author conveys
to the reader, has an aesthetic significance.
