It is well known from studies, various national programs and mass media that today in society
much attention is paid to the life of ancestors who passed through the concepts of «cultural heritage»,
«culture of the nation». Since the problem of globalization and integration remains relevant, the preservation
of national identity becomes even more important. The study of national identity requires interdisciplinary
research, closely related to such fields as sociology, ethnology, history, culture, linguistics. The article presents
an overview of the work on the study of the mentality of the German people based on the basic concepts of
German culture, the system of values of the German people and its changes. There are considered ethnospecific
concepts Ordnung, Sicherheit, Gemütlichkeit, which are regarded the «keys» to understanding the originality
of the German linguistic culture and the mentality of its carriers, and moreover, they are confirmed by specific
linguistic data. Based on the analysis of linguistic material and data from the humanities, there are revealed
systemic connections in the German concept sphere.
