The origins and types of fantasy genre in fiction

The article examines the origin of fantasy genre, raises the problem of archetypal plots that
underlie the content of the work. The features of the genres of science fiction and fantasy are determined.
Conclusions are also drawn and the prerequisites for the existence of another astral, parallel world with
its artistic laws are summarized, turning into a world of artistic reality in the fantasy genre.The difference
between fantasy and fairy tales is that in the world where miracles are described, they are portrayed as
normal and real life as a natural law in reality.
The content of the article provides an overview of the works of the fantasy genre, outstanding
representatives of world literature and Kazakh literature. The main section draws conclusions about the
scientific definition of the fantasy genre, its main genre types today – epic, otherwise called heroic fantasy,
fairy-tale fantasy, ‘dark’ fantasy, normal fantasy, parody fantasy, urban fantasy, scientific fantasy and
mystical fantasy. The main attention is paid to the artistic genesis of mythological plots and epic sagas,
which served as the impetus for the birth of the Fantasy genre. The properties of the real, mythological,
epic, fantastic space in the plot space of works of the Fantasy genre are analyzed. In connection with the
formation and development of Kazakh fantasy, its artistic level is being studied. In the final part, the key
opinions in the article are analyzed and conclusions are drawn. The goals and objectives facing the modern
fantasy genre are shown.
