The article takes into account the work of researchers who studied the history of
the origin of the narrative art of zhyrshy and zhyrau at different times. Educational and historical
significance of the art of zhyrshy and zhyrau in the spiritual world as well as features of these
narrator schools that still exist in the Kazakh steppes were also examined. Based on this topic,
a large number of theoretical works were studied is detail, where information was collected on
the concepts of “legend” (zhyr), “narrator” (zhyrshy, zhyrau), “narrator art” (art of zhyrshy and
zhyrau), and a narrator school (schools of zhyrshy and zhyrau). The historical data on the study of
zhyrshy and zhyrau schools was analyzed and a final judgment was drawn.
