The problem of the aspect of verbs in languages has always aroused interest not only from private
grammars, but also from comparative linguistics. Until now, the question of the existence of an aspect as a
grammatical category in many languages remains open and desputed. If the Russian language has a sufficient
amount of scientific research and evidence of the activity of this category in verbs, then many grammars of
the English and Kazakh languages do not speak about the productivity of the tenses-temporal forms of the
verb. This article is devoted to the study of the concept of aspect, as well as to the peculiarities of the functional
semantics of the verbs of the branch discourse. Theoretical statements are illustrated on the movement verbs.
Movement verbs with their categorical seme “movement in space” dominate as denotative concepts in sports
discourse.
