We explore the views on marriage and love embodied in English proverbs, aiming to understand the cultural values and emotional attitudes behind these proverbs. Some proverbs advocate freedom of marriage and love, believing that love is predestined. Some emphasize the blindness of love, advocating a sober and rational attitude towards marriage and love, and more importantly, working hard to manage marriage. This paper collects and analyzes some representative English proverbs about love and marriage. These proverbs are not only linguistic expressions but also cultural wisdom inheritance. They show the complex and diverse understanding and practice of love and marriage among people in English-speaking
countries. They reveal some common themes and values, such as individualism,
rationalism, romanticism, realism, etc. They also reflect some historical and social
changes, such as Christianity, feminism, etc. English proverbs about love and marriage
are not only a rich source of linguistic and cultural information, but also a valuable
resource for cross-cultural communication and education. One of the main reasons for this is that the past and present situations of language-using individuals are closely intertwined with mental individuality.
The verbal-semantic, cognitive, as well as pragmatic ways of retaining words in human consciousness and obtaining information about the formation of a person’s linguistic vocabulary and the peculiarities of its development are considered in detail. Concepts such as the reproduction of a word by a person, its acceptance from another person, understanding, and the retention of moral units in consciousness are explained.
This article comprehensively reviews the stages of formation and development in psycholinguistics before the emergence of the mental lexicon issue. It describes their relevance in modern society, guided
by an analysis of conclusively stated findings about the mental lexicon. The focus is also on the research conducted by several world-renowned scientists in the field of mental lexicon, defining its role in Kazakh
linguistics. Drawing on the analysis of previous works and research in this direction, our study summarizes a new aspect of the mental lexicon - the formation of children’s speech in elementary school.
D.K. The
object of the study is the work of Kemel Tokayev, who wrote the first works in this genre in Kazakh literature, including the novel “The Soldier Went to War”.
The works of the writer, which is comprised of detective prose works, occupies a significant position within the corpus of Kazakh literature.
The purpose of the article is to determine the linguistic and stylistic features of the Kazakh detective genre. In this regard, the tasks of analyzing the use of synonyms, antonyms, comparisons, metaphors and epithets were set.
In the novel A Soldier Went to War, a wide use of the potential of synonymy is noticed: both systematic and contextual synonyms are freely used. These synonyms form gradational development in the text.
When synonyms are used in the same row, the fact that one of them has an emotionally expressive coloring can be explained by the peculiarity of the writer’s language. Pleonastic usages also serve to clarify the idea.
In the novel, there is naturally less use of antonyms than of synonyms, since they are needed only to compare phenomena in a certain passage of text.
The use of such tropes as comparison, metaphor, epithet in the text is described, their artistic function and methods of formation are determined.
Linguistic facts were presented in context, as their meaning and meaning are often revealed through context.
An analysis was carried out to determine the role of synonyms, antonyms, epithets and metaphors in the text of detective novels in creating a tense atmosphere, plot development and characterization of
characters. The study is based on methods of stylistic analysis and focuses on specific linguistic techniques used by the author to achieve the effect of intrigue and mystery characteristic of the detective genre. The
results of the study allow us to better understand the peculiarities of the linguistic nature of detective works and their impact on reader perception.
T.S.
